Currently it seems the breaking point will either be the depletion of conventional oil reserves (there will still be a plethora of oil, but too expensive to extract and process), or a geopolitical conflict that compromises global shipping routes. If that doesn't do it then fertilizer shortages, pollution of waterways, topsoil loss and ecosystem collapse probably will. Hell global fish populations are already devastated to the point that most fish has to be farmed.
