What are you thinking of doing for dating right now?

I gave up on apps a few years back, after about 8ish years with no results. Lately I've just been going to different kinds of events, bars and stuff, but the issue (well, the one i think is making it very hard at least, that is relatively within my control) is i don't really have supportive friends to do these things with, i either do them alone or with people who view me as a side character with no real needs or wants

I think that may be a good starting point for you actually, just make some friends to go out and do stuff with. Especially if you also struggle with shyness, it helps a lot to have support from people nearby you. And honestly it never hurts to have friends that you can count on or at least talk to or hang out with.

One time i was at a bar, i asked a guy i went with just to stand within my vicinity (maybe 5-10ft away) while i walked up and talked to a girl, i went up to her and said hi, she said hi back and left after we exchanged a few words (she was visibly not interested), i turned around and that guy had already walked in the opposite direction and was like 25-30 ft away from me. Someone i've known for a long time.
