This is something that has really shook me up. I was and still am a major supporter of the United States enhanced interrogation problems and military detainment at Guantanamo Bay. I believe that after 9/11, it was 100% justifiable for the U.S to open up secret military prisons and conduct torture to locate Osama Bin Ladin. When your opponent in war is civil and follows the rules, it makes sense to set standards. Our enemies did not do that, they tortured, they raped, they mutilated any American soldier they got their hands on, and attacked civilians intentionally, there was no reason for the U.S to be civil with these dirtbags. I also strongly supported the forced-feeding of hunger strikers in GITMO as I saw that as a necessary aspect of the war on terror. However, one thing I can not condone is if there was a sexual dynamic to this whole thing.
According to this book, which ChatGPT has summarized for me, there was a homosexual element to the torture programs at Abu Gharib, and that American soldiers had a deep hatred of the terrorists preciously because they were homophobic. It was a way for homosexual supporters to bully homophobes by forcing them to participate in homosexual activities.
The book also mentions that Abu Gharib had an INCEL dynamic to it, prisoners were mocked and berated for their lack of sexual experience, many being KHHVs. They were forced to watch sexual acts knowing that they themselves would never get to participate, and that was part of the torture. This to me is sick and inhumane and not something I would ever condemn.
