I suppose what I'm saying is this, in the new global dark ages that are approaching us where everything eventually descends into total lawlessness and chaos, which I very much believe is an inevitability, I prefer a velvet glove of totalitarianism in contrast to an iron gauntlet. Iron gauntlets are too messy, cause too much devastation, and of course there's a lot of collateral damage involved, I prefer subtle manipulations, exploits, and control methods that achieves the same outcome but without all the mess.
