There is a historical text called Rígsþula.
You can google it, and read it, its not long, but beasically it says that there were 3 castes in pagan Scandinavia: slaves, free peasants and Jarls(rulers and warriors).
Slaves are described as black haired, strong and ugly.
Free peasants are described as red-haired, decent looking and with lively eyes.
Jarls are described as blond, tall and with intimidating/snake-like eyes.
This means that in pagan Scandinavia, the Nordids were the rulers and everyone else were not Nordids, and the castes were directly connected to race.
