For my organization class, we had to rank the importance of 16 "personal values" items. Then, we listed out the most important and the least important.
Almost EVERY SINGLE PERSON listed a "good marriage" as one of their top 2 values. However, I was THE ONLY ONE to mention religion/spirituality as one of mine. Furthermore, religion/spirituality were listed as the LEAST IMPORTANT from other people.
So, these people want to bear the wonderful fruits of faithfulness and love, but they will not plant and water the seeds. Do you ever see these people pray? Maybe if only they are in a fox hole, and even then probably not. Do you see them take a timeout and refocus? No, they are on their phone 24/7. They never reflect. What do they do? Bask in vanity, alcohol, parties, and anxiety caused by this lifestyle + social media every day. Doesn't seem like a formula to success, but that is the culture we are taught.
I am not here to say that they all have nefarious intentions, because they do not. I am just pointing out the fact that it is a crime that our generation is being taught reckless hedonism is a cure to ills that ONLY EXIST due to reckless hedonism in the first place.
They want happiness and faithfulness. How do they seek to get it? Through alcohol, parties, vanity, and knee-jerk reactions caused from these high-anxiety situations and social media. Very ironic if you ask me. Yet, they do not see things this way. Actually, I don't think they see at all.
