I can't think of another game that did this except for battlefield 2, and that game was from 21 years ago. I think bf2 had more of a reason but idk. Cs I don't see a reason for this mechanic

From what I've seen in real combat footage is that experienced soldiers would reload when they know that they are almost dry, but keep that almost empty mag, as a last resort, apparently.
But I think it also depends on the situation. If you are in close quarter combat then fumbling eith an almost empty mag is a waste of time and dangerous.
Just reload and forget about it.

You do have the luxury of keeping the almost empty mag if you are in a defensive position, have cover and the enemy is far enough away.

I'd say that it all depends on how hot the fight is.

That's so fucked up the game didn't have that for it's entire life and yet they change and for what? People already reload at low bullets and this will only fuck up people with short term memory and itchy fingers, nothing will really change except for the new gun meta that will come from it. Also it has been a while I've seen a Warowl video, good times.

Also to address this a bit more... I mostly play 1.6 and Condition Zero.

They're more lightweight and better in many ways IMO.

But I do like to watch Counter-Strike eSports and that's the main reason that changes like this bother me.

And not even a logical one because if you have limited ammo then you'd hold onto the mags that still have rounds in them!

It would be insane to throw away a magazine that only had one round missing from it.

The aim-down-sight thing... yeah it's interesting.

I mean, you can do it with scopes of course but I know that's not really the same thing.

It's just not the way CS has ever been played. I don't really think it spoils the game to really any degree but it does take some getting used to.

It would be insane. Not even soldiers in combat throw away their magazines in real life. Even when they're empty they're told to keep them.
