I used to follow people but it doesn't add any functionnality. It's just like a one time alert poke for users your like tbh.

if you follow someone, it puts them on your "following" list, i guess for checking their profile or something. it could also be used as a token of appreciation (probably the main reason its used)

it doesn't serve a functionality for me since i could just search up members. and if i used it as a token of appreciation, then it would be stressful for me because then i would feel like i would have to follow everyone. but i do appreciate it when someone follows me

I really don't know what others mean when they follow someone, I never understood why the people following me follow me. Personally I just follow somebody when I have a good memory associated with them, that way when I check the list I remember it and feel better.
