Unraveling a Mystery

So, I'll confess I'm a little bit older than most of the people who frequent this place. My limbs ache, my vision is dimming and perhaps my mind is becoming addled as well. As the Stones so wisely noted: "what a drag it is getting old." Which means I'm probably significantly less savvy when it comes to YouTube and its intricacies. Maybe someone a little bit more familiar with them could help me resolve the mystery at hand.

Now, it just so happened that I noticed Mr. Basedshaman's most recent video regarding the incels:

I found it just a little bit curious that he referenced the now defunct r/incels subreddit in the title of this video rather than this forum considering that the latter has been the primary topic of his videos as of late, as well as the fact this site was apparently the source of the infographics he's discussing. Strange, isn't it? Perhaps, just perhaps, it has something to do with not wanting to call attention to the following:

Ah, but who's to say? Who's to say? Some matters are best left to the theologians and philosophers and, given that I'm neither, well, I'm humble enough to admit some mysteries are best left unanswered.

So, leaving that aside for the time being, I decided to watch Shaman's latest video. Now, I had plenty of objections to it, but there was one in particular I felt compelled to leave a comment regarding. Now, as a rule, I don't leave messages on YouTube videos but we all know that the exception proves the rule so why not indulge a bit? After all, considering that Mr. Shaman obviously wants to help each and every one of us, that he has no interest in fostering an echo-chamber for his growing following, I figured a bit of constructive criticism would be warmly welcomed. So, in all innocence, I posted the following comment:

Penumbra

LostInTheShadows

I figured Mr. Shaman would appreciate the fact I was urging him to show a little bit more nuance and subtlety when addressing the incels because he wants to help ALL of us, right? Listen to our voices, engage in a productive dialogue and so on. Not all blacks are the same, not all whites are the same and, not all women the same nor men and, by that logic, not all incels are the same either.

So I waited with baited breath for his response. I even hoped he might actually show his appreciation by tagging my comment with that little icon of his avatar with the heart beside it, welcoming me aboard the glorious Starship Lockjaw.

But time passed. While my comment was the top one for the video while I was signed in, more recent comments with that lovely little icon that I so dearly coveted were below it. Strange! I hadn't received any "thumbs-up" or responses to my comment which would have pushed it above the others. But maybe that's how YouTube works. Maybe from an outsider's perspective, my comment would be lower on the page but still intact, waiting for Mr. Shaman's considered and considerate response.

So I logged out of my YouTube account and, for some reason I couldn't see my helpful bit of constructive criticism anywhere. It was almost like it had disappeared entirely. Comments made seven hours ago were visible but mine, made a mere hour beforehand, wasn't! So utterly bizarre. In times like these I used to turn to Rod Serling, but the old scribe passed away long ago to wherever it is Death ushers those whose time has drawn to a close.

Can someone here perhaps help explain to a feeble old geriatric like myself how this could have happened?

As a small post-script:

I know some men here support BasedShaman and, I suppose, that's fine to a certain extent. We all do what we must and no one with sufficient knowledge chooses the worse in favor of the better. But be very careful to whom you pledge your allegiances and, more importantly, your mind and soul to because we incels, who have been burdened with repulsive faces and unsightly bodies, have little else to take pride in other than our spirits. Peruse the comment sections of his videos and ask yourself whether the sentiments permitted there are the appreciation of fans or the drooling adoration of a mindless cult.

Think very long and hard and never forget that even the gentlest shepherd protects his flock for the sole purpose of one day leading it to the slaughter: to be bought, sold and, ultimately, devoured.

A very good post, but I don't think our friend [tattooedhairline] can see far enough past his T A T T O O E D H A I R L I N E to engage with our criticisms honestly.

Criminally underrated poster.

You need to write a book. But yeah, that's how YouTube comments work.

Excellent post that read very smoothly. Your slaughter theme was very appropriate here. Based Shaman pretends to be innocent but I always got the feeling he was a wolf in sheep's clothing, spreading a Bluepill that he knows is wrong. What he truly wants is followers and profits. Why else would he have seen your post, absorbed it's logic and then promptly deleted it?
