This has come to light because of new proposals to make race an even bigger factor in sentencing (ie to discriminate even more against native white Brits). Before sentencing, a pre-sentencing report is made if certain criteria are met, with the report being a way to argue factors which should lead to a lighter sentence. Factors include being female and race/religion (naturally only applicable to non-white races and non-Christian religions), as well as being pregnant. I cba digging to find the link, but I did so the other day.
