My guess is he was somehow known to the victim. Stranger murders are pretty rare. Given the lockdown at the moment it probably wasn't that hard to whittle it down to who had access to the victim. He kidnapped her and transported her body to Kent. My guess is forensics probably found hair and fibres in the vehicle he used to do it. You are right - not the sharpest.
His car was caught on camera near to where she was last seen. They'd be able to follow his whole journey home through registration plate recognition cameras an even see if she was in the car with him. He's a fuckin retard. You'd think having police training would make him a bit more savvy. Now he's facing at least 30 years in prison, which for a police officer I'm sure will be a barrel of laughs

You know as a police officer it probably wouldn't be to hard to get some decoy plates. The police confiscate them all the time off criminals. The cameras are a bit harder to deal with - they are hard to get away from in London and the south east but he probably could have at least shoved her in the boot first. What an idiot. He gave them an open and shut case, they didn't even need any forensics to solve that.
