I think it actually makes a lot of sense. Ugly foids want to make it clear you don't have a chance with them.

Since they are ugly, it is more feasible you think you have a chance with them, so they will be mean to make it clear you do not.

Pretty girls don't need to do this. It's just inherently known they're out of your league, so they can be nice or flirt with impunity without ever being blamed because it's considered common sense they're off-limits.

This is also why for example, younger women can be nice and older women can be mean.
