Jfl:feelskek:. You've got to be kidding me, just how did the US fall so much behind the rest of the world in terms of HSR that they are behind a country with several times lower GDP per capita and a fourth of their population:feelskek::feelsgah:.

Meanwhile, the United States has just 375 route-miles of track cleared for operation at more than 100 mph.

Since its first high-speed trains began running in 2009, Turkey has expanded its network. Roughly 800 miles of dedicated high-speed lines are in use, and that number will rise sharply over the next few years.

It gets even better, at first I wanted to make a thread about the fact that, counting both completed and planned/in construction railways, North Africa is on track to have more HSR than North America, before noticing that North America's figures there don't count certain types of railways.

Instead, it will have about half as much as North America:feelskek:, and about as much as Turkey, so that means that, even counting railways that are just planned/approved or still being constructed, the US and Canada together are still on track to have only as much HSR as three MENA countries put together, since "North Africa" on that page is literally just Egypt and Morocco, as no one else has any or is planning any. US and Canada are unironically barely doing better than a much poorer region that's barely trying in this area:feelskek:, and is about one or two infrastructure deals with the Chinese away from outpacing the Americans anyways:feelshaha:.

The few rail systems that exist in the US are occupied by homeless crackheads who spend all day shitting on the floor, following random people around and harassing them, and smoking crack on train cars with pregnant women

Conservatives don't want to invest in public transport and liberals don't want to be mean to homeless people so nobody will ever do anything about it and US cities will have car centric infrastructure forever

Yes, public transport in the jewSA is poor, outside of a few states. It is known. Most people drive so doesn't really matter.

Uzbekistan is higher too :dafuckfeels:

Jews control the car companies and airlines. As a result there is no high speed rail

Nobody uses trains in the U.S anyway. Everybody just drives, shit is too far apart and spread out

dumbfuckifentanylistan could use epic rails more than any other nation yet we have few and they're all pretty fuckin old. our leaders are just fuckin dumb and have no strategy. its the next money throw that's all they think about

Flying is cheap and accessible here in the states whereas it is prohibitively expensive in other parts of the world. As someone who enjoys rail travel, not even HSR will beat out our airline industry. When it comes to long distances, if you're only concerned with speed and cost, arguably the two biggest factors, I find it hard to see what the pitch for expanding HSR vs air travel is is. I can think of many advantages but very rarely is it speed or cost. Rail is really only king when it comes to commuting from suburbs to cities. Even within the city, I prefer to bike

It's because the USA is obsessed with cars, if you don't have a car in the USA, you're worthless, but in many countries of Europe it's not necessary to have a car, almost noone has a car there, not even rich people, the public transport is soo good that using a car is weird and pathetic.

The USA is obsessed with cars because of their individualistic culture, they don't want to collectively share the same space while going somewhere.

This. Also boomer cucks hate high speed rails because it will mean nigs can come to their areas more easily. And they hate nigs to extremes to never let railroads in their area.

Furthermore USA's property rights regarding land are too strict

I could see rail between Washington DC, NYC and Boston being setup. Same with Californian cities. But boomers won't let It happen. And many fear nigs/homeless would come to their areas if this happened. Very unfortunate
