Boomer post-war economy was anomalous because there was no competition from Germany, Japan, China. Competition began in the 1980s when these countries had their economic miracles and that pushed down the cost of labor, decimating the working lives of Americans. FDR and LJB's welfare states didn't help either, just made Americans more indebted and dependent on third world labor.
