I spent majority of my secondary school days reading and watching romance anime, I would get through the whole series then start crying myself to bed, I did this for around 2 years and couldnt continue.

honourable picks Toradora, Love chunibyo and other delusions, mysterious girl X, dont toy with me miss nagatoro, Hajimete no gyal

Could never really get into romance tbh. I know nothing of romance as I've never seen it

if you ever wanna try again, I would say mysterious girl X, it blackpills you then gives you freaky shit, the anime is a hot and cold experience

Noted

I never watched anime except when I was little but romance anime seems hellish. Know that it was written by Incels from Japan.

I usually avoid romance these days but yeah that has happened to me before.

Any romance media is unrealistic. It was written by an Incel who has never experienced it. It's uncanny to me to watch it for this reason, it feels like something I would write pretending to be normal

very true, we need to start realising that karma doesn't work in the way we wished, all those high school nerd beats bully shit are a cope from ex nerds in high school, also romance anime shows the girl loving the guy unconditionally, EXtremely unrealistic

watching anime is a fakecel trait

there was one i liked which is BokuYaba but the others are pretty much cookie cutter copies of some ideal male archetype that only women would watch.

I avoid this shit like the plague after watching Welcome to the N.H.K. It wasn't a bad anime - it was really good actually, but I'm not built for it given the implications.

Understandable, I haven't watched welcome to the NHK I might at some point

I remember reading vampire knights and it had the cookie cutter men in it, very cringe but well written story

probably won't read it tbh one i do kinda recommend is BokuYaba give it try and see if you like it. Me personally i found it to be enjoyable but the main character isn't ugly (well obviously) however is shorter and socially inept than the girl who does seem like a generic stacy at first until you find out more about her.

There are probably some better ones out there idk of tbh you can try dig up some threads somewhere that has good recommendations but most Romcoms are just FOIDbait slop that only serves the female mind.

I had a period of my life where all I watched were romance animes, it felt like I was truly there and I was feeling the same emotions as them

every time I finished the show I wanted to kms

Honestly yeah, it's like a bittersweet experience like it does put you into the perspective of the protagonist and their view and contrast between that and the real world really breaks you.

Its fun to fantasize and imagine an ideal world where you are like the MC but then again it is just fantasy at the end of the day which is why many of us avoid it.

I've refrained from watching anything romance based nowadays since the feeling afterwards just hurts

How could anyone get emotional over Nagatoro?
