The greatest investment I ever made is world travel. I got to see much of the world. You don't gain any returns from this... quite the opposite, it drains your funds to zero eventually. What you do gain is memories that will last a lifetime and a sense of knowing you didn't follow the flock... you went your own way and got to experience life at its fullest. The reality is that taking a vacation this year, if you have 30 years of life left, then you have 30 years to enjoy the memory of the vacation from this year, you from time to time get a smile from the memory, you feel better, so it may actually make you healthier. People think waiting till retirement for seeing the world is the right way to do it, not knowing that they are getting the worst ROl on memories/happiness when they wait till retirement to see the world.
