Too optimistic with people, they end up throwing me under the bus? Does anyone get too optimistic with people? In the past, I have hired managers that let me join their company, but they turn out to be horrible in the way they deal with people. Their attitude toward employees is that they see them as slaves. When standing up for myself on sleazy corporate policies, people I work with end up throwing me under the bus. This isn't inclusive of only work-related stuff. It could be with pseudo-friends too. Some people have a different conceptual understanding of the word friend. Some conflate friends with associates. My conceptual understanding of friends is that they are able to help me when I'm in a vulnerable position. Others have no notion of that and just treat friends as just a person they recognize.

I"m too optimistic in that when I helped them with something important, they don't help me when I'm in my poor state.

They're not your friends, they're just using you to further their own goals. That's the majority of interactions you're going to get if you work in the corporate world with mindless bugmen who'll do anything for a higher paycheck and promotion. You need to adopt that attitude of not giving a shit as well if you want to get ahead, just be subtle with it or you'll be crucified by your fellow co-workers for being an evil inkwell.
