Yeah it's kind of fucked up. The previous generation acted more the way we want women to act now and in the process created us. Eg. My mom picked my dad because he was a good and stable provider who deeply cared about her. And thus I was created.

It's not really our parents' fault. No one could have reasonably anticipated the degree to which the culture would change and male appearance/height/race would become so critical. I never would have expected this 10-20 years ago. I thought the world would become less racist over time not more. It's crazy really.

As for my mom's apology, I didn't ask for it or really want it since it doesn't matter and I don't blame her for that. She was doing what she thought was right. But yeah I think it pretty clearly indicates that she "got it" by the end.
