Tbh I've been watching pretty much everything original version with subtitles since 2015 doesn't matter if it's English or Icelandic kek. At first I found it weird but when I got used to it it was so cool and much more authentic that way.

In Spain everything is dubbed so most people aren't used to reading subtitles. So now when I watch a movie dubbed in Spanish it always feels really weird and fake. Doesn't help that here the voice acting industry is corrupt as fuck and they pretty much never hire new people except if you're friends or family of voice actors. Ded srs I've heard the same 20 voices for movies and shows produced in the last 30 years.

Most recent example I can think of I'm playing God of War (2018) and I didn't like the voice they chose for Kratos (same voice as fucking Palpatine kek) and Atreus (he doesn't sound like a kid). So I downloaded the English voice pack and changed it, enjoying it much more now. Or when my dad wanted to go to the cinema to watch Nosferatu, it was dubbed in Spanish and I couldn't keep thinking how unnatural the dub felt.

However for animated media it's less jarring and I even prefer some of the Spanish dubs but it's mostly because I watched that version when I was younger so I have nostalgia. For live actions on the other hand like I said I always prefer the original version with subtitles.

Most dubs don't have the emotion the originals have

same thing in Brazil, its the same 5 voice actors for all kinds of media
i also cringe very hard watching something dubbed in portuguese

Some anime is good dubbed and others subbed

I only watch subbed media

Ngl I prefer watching Digimon in Spanish because it reminds me of my childhood and I think the dub is quite good. I also watched Hellsing Ultimate in Spanish because I felt like it and it was a great dub too. It's live actions where dubs are bad.

Anime and games is all subbed. Movies, tv shows, etc i watch in original languages and dubbed only when i'm watching with my family

so many times the voice doesn't even suit the character at all. I just hear my parents watching smth from the living room and it's all the same fucking voices over and over. I also don't understand how anyone can watch dubbed anime this is even more shit in my opinion.

Dubbed anime arent really a thing i like except there’s good few that are dubbed in english fmab cowboy bebop for example the rest is just shitty voice acting i might as well get into voice acting just by how shitty the actors do their job

In movies its the same thing it just sounds fake and the lip syncing doesnt help

Subs is always the superior option.

We have the same issue in France too. Everything is dubbed not subbed and it's always the same 20 voice actors.

Sounds unnatural

In Spain (and Latin America) there's this interesting phenomena of dub copers saying we got the best dub in the world, our voice actors are the best because they have lots of experience and we are better than the original version :feelskek: Same happens in France?

Yeah, they say we need to keep dubs because the french voice actors are highly skilled and that there's a whole industry behind it.

I could never enjoy Anime because the dubbed english is just distracting and I find reading titles even more distracting. You can't read subtitles and watch video with full attention at the same time, it completely ruins the entertainment because there's too much brainpower required to understand what's going on.

I wish they'd go to the effort to re-record the English with better voice actors and then also update the animations to match the English audio better.

True I can't watch anything dubbed that's live action. Animated on the other hand is tolerable. In the Netherlands it works like that animated is dubbed and love action sub. Besides trashy live action kids programs.

Dragon Ball Z, Beyblade, TMNT, HunterxHunter, and a couple others.. Have decent DUBs
Dbz is better watching dubbed rather than the original, the others have decent dubs but I'd still choose original.

I like how the words don't match the lips.

I used to watch old Chinese movies..

I only watch anime subbed.
