Ive only played 4 and 4 remake, both 10/10
The new ones are great, they really did something new and terrifying with the old hillbilly murder family. And made the old Vampire/haunted doll/fishman and steampunk motif into something new.

Og 4, 5, 6, maybe 7 too are the best ones. The remakes suck. They cut corners and content for who knows what reason. Normies glorify the remakes because of muh graphics. So, the graphics are the only upgrade in the demakes. I don't care for graphics. It's up to personal preference of whether you're a ADHD normie and prefer graphics or you prefer gameplay and more content.
7s the best one if I where you I’d play re2 remake then re3 remake then og resident evil 4 then 5 skip 6 if you want and do 7 and 8

Stick to 1-3 on the PS1, and REmake. Those l games are the heart and soul of the series.
RE7&8 are the best games of the franchise imo
Resident Evil 6 is the most fun one if you have somebody to play with
I like the loot and exploration aspect of it, they also have cute girls such as claire in it. Thank god the remakes let me mod it to make the females not look like tomboys

I have only played the 2,3 and 4 remakes. They are good cope. I recommend them. The 2nd remake scared me a lot tho.
I prefer it when the series sticks to its survival horror roots. REmake, RE2, RE3, and RE7 are peak Resident Evil. But I do have a soft spot for RE4.
I like all of the games apart from the demakes of 2,3 & 4 & some of the spin offs...
