I beat this game not so long ago. After years hating on turn based games and refusing to play them (except Pokemon) I have to say I enjoyed this one. The combat feels fluid and fun and grinding is even relaxing. But I have to admit I brute forced most of the game, I'm not good at strategy so if I was struggling with some boss I just grinded a bit more on the sphere grid and that was enough. I didn't do any of the optional bosses or celestial weapons but I got the optional aeons Yojimbo and Anima.
Graphically the game looks really charming and good with that retro early 2000s look, but I have to say I'm a bit biased because I love Ps2 era games. The story was deeper than I expected and emotional at some points specially the end. I played the game in Spanish (subtitles only) and now that I'm good at English I realize how inaccurate subs can be sometimes.
Overall I'd say even if you don't like turn based games give this one a try. It's a relaxing game not too hard and has a good story. And maybe this will motivate me to try Persona saga or the turn based Yakuza games...
