Thinking about fasting for a few days since I've been basically a neet this last 2 weeks because of the lockdown in our country and been eating a bunch of unhealthy stuff my grandma bakes and thinking about fasting for a bit.
What are your thoughts about fasting and the "spiritual" aspect of it? Good way to make food copes more effective by abstaining from them for a few days? Have any of you were retarded enough like me to try it?

Intermittent fasting works to lose weight.

Straight up not eating for a few days could be dangerous and is way harder than you think. I sometimes don't eat out of laziness and to test my limits. The longest I've ever been able to go was a day and some change

Not eating does make food taste amazing when you eventually break your fast

Do you drink water though when you dont eat out of laziness? Just curious

I've been on about 800 calories a day for 3 months so that probably counts. I'm trying to go from 12 stone 8 to 10 stone 8 a total loss of 2 stone.

Went into fasting hard a while ago trying to get a promotion.
Lost about 50 in 6 months. Longest was about 2 weeks was quite proud of myself for that.
No I’ll effects from it and it was enjoyable but when I found out I wasn’t even going to get a second chance for the promotion I sank back into my food copes rather quickly.

longest i’ve gone is 5 days, but it wasn’t for weight loss

I did it for 4 days and got sent to the hospital as a result.

I didn't feel sick or fatigued and neither hungry but my body just couldn't take it, so it depends on you.

i went 2 days once, it was pretty rough. turns out you need food to survive, what a load of bullshit
considering doing it again

'A human can go for more than three weeks without food — Mahatma Gandhi survived 21 days of complete starvation'

You're lightweights. Mind you he had Hindu powers.

Lot of it depends on current body weight I think skinny will have issues.
I did the math a while ago think I had enough calories stored in fat to last about a year of course I wouldn’t go that long.
Biggest hurdle is mental once you get over the act of putting things in your face it got much easier and when I did eat it was much more satisfying. We live in an age of abundance we don’t need to eat as much as we think we do nor do we need all the over processed crap.
This helps to body needs salts and electrolytes
2 liters water
1 tsp potassium chloride
1/2 tsp sodium chloride
1 tsp sodium bicarbonate
1/2 tsp magnesium sulfate

We have Ramadan so yes. Indeed I have been retarded enough to try it. Like 20 hr fast where I live but manageable. It's not really the eating part that's 'hard' but rather the not drinking part. Which you get used to over time. Salts and electrolytes if you want to keep your body hydrated for longer periods of time.

Couldn't you just drink out the tap while you're in the toilet or something? No-one would notice that. That's what I would do.

I could but personally never had an urge to do it

Great way for losing weight, GrAYcel

It's good since gluttony, lust and sloth tend to go all hand in hand.

Im currently losing weight to cope. My clothes are starting to feel too tight and I cant afford to buy new ones. Im ""soft fasting""" by drinking coffee and Pepsi Max all day. I did some serious fasting last year, 8 days and 11 days. I wouldn't do it again, though, it takes too much mental space and time slows down so much.

Tried intermittent fasting for 3 days and hated the fuck out of it. I felt more mentaly and physically miserable than usual, i fucking starved, and had headache too.

Life is shit, food is good cope.

fasting is totally legit. i think having "feeding windows" is very healthy. humans shouldn't be grazing like cows and eating all day
with that said im morbidly obese but i used to fast when i was /fit/. skipped breakfast. skipped lunch (maybe milk/smoothie is feeling light headed). would eat from 4pm~10pm then sleep at midnight. it worked quite nice for years. i'd always fuck up on weekends but M-F were my school/work days so it was easy to keep that routine.

I recommend starting by doing 24 hours to see how that goes, it might be dangerous to do several days when your body isn't used to it.

I'm all for intermittent fasting. It helped me to lose weight while working out before corona. Normal fasting AFAIK includes not drinking anything too, thus it is harder to do and might have unwanted side effects if you go overboard on fasting.

me too. it's not that hard and you get used to it pretty quick. and you can drink water and stuff outside whatever window (just not food/sugar but coffee/tea is fine). there's a ton of stuff online about different schedules. stop eating at 6pm and don't have breakfast until 11am. or you can go 8pm to 1pm or whatever.

@Haywire what's your opinion on this

sounds stupid. i dont have to go a few days to make it more effective. more like few hours
Do you enjoy food more than fasting

Eat every 3 hours.
