White nationalists came out with a wide variety of reasons for East Asians getting ahead, calling them out on cheating, to being rote memorizing slave drone bugs and test rakers rather than creative and innovative entrepreneurs and thought leaders. They want top American institutions to be for WASPs only. Meanwhile, Asians are saying that Whites can't compete with them in academics and are too dumb and lazy.

Whites, especially WASPs, don’t value the grinding culture inherent in Asia. The Ivy League has fallen out of favor for white elites, they now want their kids to go to smaller liberal arts schools where they can explore their passions and don’t have to grind.

If you’re a zoomer in the US, you have probably experienced this. The Ivys don’t offer exclusive access to top institutions like they once did. Big tech, consultancy firms, big law, and finance all draw from a more diverse university pool than before. Funny enough, as soon as those institutions gain prominence, ethnics will flood them too.

Western European culture has long valued being a Man of Letters, basically an all-rounded intellectual. That's the reason liberal arts programs used to be to go to of the elite. WASP kids now have to decide what they want from a young age and start grinding towards that goal so they don't get beat out by Asians. Just look at Charles H. Townes, Arthur Compton (technically German), or Vannevar Bush. These guys were brilliant but also well rounded and perpetuated a certain ethos in America – the ideal American is curious, faithful, erudite, and affable. The modern white elite, even if irreligious, would prefer their kid turned out like that versus some awkward Leetcode grinder.

There's also the big disparity in ideas about credentialism. Of the three I mentioned, none went to an Ivy for undergrad despite being a genius from a young age, and that was alright for them and their parents.
