Good guy: you are strongest if you have something or someone to protect.

Bad guy: the strong live and the weak die or are submissive to the strong.

So if you have no friends you got nothing to protect. Nothing to make you level up 10 times. Therefore you cannot be strong. And if you cannot be strong you either die or be subservient to the strong.

Makes sense?
