Yeah, that's the life of a soldier for you. I ate a few military rations before some of it is actually decent if you heat it up but mostly though it's quite bland.
More often that not due to the short amount of time a soldier has to eat he'll often eat them cold.

I don't know what planet you live on but canned food is universally the cheapest slop you could possibly buy. Eating out at a restaurant is expensive. Buying fresh whole foods is expensive. Canned food is definitely not expensive. You are being scammed if you buy canned food at high prices.
