Yeah I think the mods are mostly good guys who are just trying to do the right thing as it comes their way. Like most of us in life, that's all we can do.
It's also like that maybe research NGOs and/or even one or two small teams at the FBI keep a general photographic file of things which they find useful in preventing mass-shootings. But other than that, this question that keeps coming up about the Mods or Government spying is nothing to worry about.
You can start worrying once the Woke Leftwing decides it's going to try criminalize free-speech to the fullest. Then there is something to worry about. Might even happen in our liftimes.
