Thoughts on Francisco Franco!
He did some very good things and Spain was a first world country when he ruled. The post-war years of autarchy were very difficult but once he became friends with the US and opened the economy (mid 1950s) everything boomed. Few debt, few unemployment, few crime, etc. But also this was because the 1960s were an era of global prosperity so it's not all Franco's achievements, but he had some good stuff. Also I'm not religious so I disagree with all the catholic propaganda, government aid to the church and censorship. Then in 1970s he died, the democracy couldn't cope with the oil crisis and deindustrialization and everything went downhill.

It was, but it didn't do much. The previous king was a corrupt whoremonger with millionaire bank accounts in Switzerland and the UAE and the current king is just a prop, he only shows up in Christmas to give a speech.
