half the men in my family around that age got addicted to drugs

whenever I come across a guy from the gym over that age, they look beaten down and depressed

I get what you mean, past 30 your life is basically the same, wake up, work, come home, sleep, repeat. Living without a wife to share your life experiences is no life at all, I don't know how virgin 30+ year old cels survive like Ryo

That is exactly it.

As teens most guys have huge aspirations. By mid 20s most are lost but they just want to settle down with a fat girlfriend who loves them.

by 30 all of their hope is ripped out and replaced with human feces. Most men look awful at that age too from balding and giving up on life.
I don't blame any guy for killing himself in this current year. I COMPLETELY understand why they would do it.
