Trump was an exception because he wasn't a politician and his style of candidature run was nothing ever seen like before and yet he won his term by losing popular vote by 3 million. No matter how much they will pander to minorities the culture, demographics, media and Democrat apparatuses are too strong and against them. The GOP is too old, out of touch and stubborn, they are party of appeasers and cowards that quickly shut down their young nationalist wing while Democrats incorporated the radicals and are grooming new generation of leaders like Cortez, Omar, etc which are in contrast grooming the youth as their new voting block.

You will next see GOP most likely try to push for neocon candidates like Haley and Rubio (fishing for brownie points thus alienating their white base even more) and they will get absolutely obliterated in next elections just like McCain and Romney were. They will only start to get it when they won't be able to compete in Senate and House anymore but by then it will be too late, even if they completely aligned their policies and core beliefs with Democrats in desperate move it will still be ingrained in every normie head that they are party of fascist and white supremacists.

Electing Trump was conservatives try to halt the rapidly changing zeitgeist into status quo, and rebrand GOP from sore loser neoconservatism that got swept every election into party of populism and oldschool isolationism, they wanted to stop immigration, endless wars and jobs to be outsourced to third world. Republicans kept winning before because there was a threat of Soviet Union and they drastically altered their platform in 50s (they didn't win an election for 20 years) into being party of globalism and militrary-industrial complex to the point where Trotskyites switched to GOP and created neoconservatism, even then they never managed to retain social norms (60s and 90s counter culture) into their favor and pushed for cheap labor immigration which now came to bite them in the ass majorly.

Only way for them to rebrand is to radically shift their position on social views and embrace wokism but they are actually doing that already, GOP is now trying to become the party of minorities and gays yet to no avail because everyone except whites votes tribalistic, they constantly appease, concede and tippy toe around social issues while Democrats staunchly go forward and capitalism keeps shifting culture more and more thus alienating half of the nation. There are now jokes around that conservatives are progressives driving in speed limit.

Furthermore Democrats and their base can't just pretend to act altruistic after their hysterical behavior during Bush rule and now during 4 years of Trump, If Trump won you would see cities razed to the ground while worst thing you see from Trump supporters now is few thousands of them waving flags and clapping in streets like bunch of morons. USA is very close to the state of Spain in 1936, Many red or tossup states became solid blue, Texas is on it's way to become blue soon, GOP will keep pushing for neocons and they will lose in landslides, media and liberals will continue to demoralize, cancel, insult and mock the other side while the frustration will just keep rising, USA is beyond point of bipartisanship and common core of values, division will just keep rising until the tipping point.

It used to be possible when the country was majorly white.
