The male equivalent of the average female mindset is the man who only lives to get drunk and laid. Why should he build? Why should he protect? Why should he obey the laws, rules, and social mores? Why should he not simply do whatever feels right at the moment?
As you say, women can't even produce a persuasive pro-civilizational argument for women. How would you expect men to do so, or expect them to bother? The violent repression model is easier and it works particularly well with women.
