Unlike many people on IT or even incels, I've taken therapy and is actively taking government assigned therapists, so I have something to prove.
I'm autistic, which is classified as disability on my country, that allowed me to enjoy mental ill 'services', government welfare and other benefits.
Now back to the story. I've taken up both private therapists and government therapists so I can offer you guys some stories..
Therapist 1 (private)
Let's call him Mr. C
C was a therapist and he was quite chill. Every two weeks Saturday I would drop by his office, which is connected with a local education organization.
I would talk to him about my school problems and the stress. He would give me some advises like to organize a time table, which I did. Because I was relatively young at the time so I don't know much. The therapy ended after a few months and I did not gain much from it.
Therapist 2 (private)
Ms. Sand
I call her ms sand because of the therapy method. Basically she would let you play with a sand box. I come there every Saturday. Very fun but I didn't learn much from it.
Therapist 3 (private)
Ms. L
This is the therapist I've worked with for the longest time. I would tell her about my autism problem and each session would last an hour. I talked to her about people ostracizing me, but she just told me the usual BS "Have you talked to them?" and I talked about homework stress she told me "organize a time table and talk to your teacher". I told her about my autism and she said "what do you think your autism is giving you a disadvantage in?" I said social she said "well no one gets friends effortlessly" and "how do you plan to relief your autism?"
I think she was no different than talking to a wall
Therapist 4 (government)
Ms. A
A was truly the most useful therapist assigned to by the government. She actually tried to help(not a lot but yeah) and we would talk for hours. When I had issues, she was no different than the last therapist though. Just talk to people meme again.
Not useful but she actually acknowledged some of my issues and would talk back unlike the Ms. L.
CONCLUSION
So what do I think? Therapy gives you a fake friend to talk to, but charges a overwhelming fee of 200$ each session. Is it worth it? Definitely no, you get the same kind of feedback talking to a friend or talking about it on online forums anyway. When it comes to actually helping my life, learning about the blackpill has helped me way more than therapists ever does.
Depending on the quality of the therapist, it can be as good as talking to a friend or brick wall.
TL;DR - don't pay 200$ per hour for feedback you can get easily from participating in online forums or talking to a friend
