Usually, yeah, though population can also come into existence through isolation (e.g. european russians and siberian russians lose contact to eachother because of whatever, the siberian russians develop their own culture over time and european russians make their own). It's usually a mixture of both ethnicity mixing and isolation. The isolation thing is also how the races came into existence

Because people are sedated by consumerism, capitalism and their brains are damaged by the massive piles of junkfood and other processed goods they stuff themselves full with. As long as they are alright and do well for themselves. Basically the same mindset as our grandfathers who got a good life and jumped off the ship before it sank, without thinking of future generations that have to roam this earth.
