"Utopia Within Our Grasp" -John J Duran
This could be an earthly paradise if we all really tried.
Food, land, no one would ever be turned away or denied.
Instead of profit we all could be freely helped instead.
No one should be denied housing, healthcare or even bread.
A vast earth with resources spread aplenty for both animals and man.
Fruit trees, plants and livestock, future sustenance perfectly planned.
These lands and our planet was granted freely.
But the very concept of profit led only to the greedy.
Everything must now have a cost, an unjustified price,
Little is shared freely, to me this doesn't seem proper or nice.
Kindness is the path, and sharing the load is key.
For everyone can live happily, and currency-free.
There is an idea that should be shared, a wonderful ideal.
Of a future utopia, and this would have mass-appeal.
Yes, its perfectly possible, if everyone really tried.
With everything having a cost, many will starve and die.
In this capitalistic haven the wealthy eat quite well.
Fancy dinners and wine, but they'll pay for it with worldly Hell
They care not whether the poor pitifully perish.
For what worth do the poor possess, this world is nightmarish
Do the poor have a right to live without paying?
When every piece of land is owned where will they be staying?
When profit is the only motivation for everything people do... What worth is compassion, without payment due?
