Did a system exist where men ruled but females were considered second class citizens? Yes, but even in a monarchy the order was Highborn men> highborn women> lowborn women> lowborn men. In war the highborn men and women were ransomed while the lowborn women were kept as wives and the lowborn men were slaughtered. In the modern age feminism has elevated these lower females even higher. The lower females are given respect inherently while the lower men have to earn it. "Patriarchy" Is long dead and the unnecessary men living in this new age are the ones that get all of the negatives but none of the benefits.
