But a man named Ananias—his wife, Sapphira, conniving in this with him—sold a piece of land, secretly kept part of the price for himself, and then brought the rest to the apostles and made an offering of it.

God killed Ananias because he didn't give everything. At first this might seem hard to understand. Altruism is good because parenthood is a form of altruism. Yet it seems altruism was demanded of Ananias right away. Parenthood isn't done in one day.

I'm starting to understand it. I think the money was supposed to go to the apostles who owned property in common. This would be problematic because the apostles aren't Ananias' children, but I realized this is Christian communism. Communism is good because communism can be pro-children. In another thread I made I said this:

What I like about communism is that the Soviet Union had a Mother Heroine "honorary title that..., awarded for bearing and raising a large family." I also like Decree 770 of Communist Romania which "restricted abortion and contraception, and was intended to create a new and large Romanian population."

I'm not sure if this is what the apostles did though. It might also be worth remembering that Ananias wasn't the only one who was killed by God. Onan too, who refused to reproduce. Maybe Ananias wasn't reproducing. Maybe not.

Ananias died because he lied to The Holy Spirit and to the prophets.

He knew what he was doing, and got a part of the money, pretending he donated everything to appear more generous.

Lied to The Holy Spirit, to the church and tried to appear holy

I think it was because he didn't give everything. Jesus said to give everything "to the poor."

I think that even if little, it is okay, as long it is honest, not trying to appear holier, or better, while deceiving others but i respect your opinion.

But honestly, yeah, we can say those who trule give everything may receive a great reward In The Kingdom Of God.

And also those who get more money, give to the poor, but keeps, then get more money, gives to the poor, but keeps, then get more money and keep doing is interesting.

it's a story made up to threaten believers into giving all they have to the Church. what kind of people think it's true and derive theological arguments from it :feelskek:

I think God may have killed Ananias because of 1 Corinthians 13:3 and 2 Corinthians 9:7. This also helps understand when Jesus said to not give so others recognize it.
