With stuff you have seen with Collective Shout lobbying payment processors to not allow payments of "misogynistic" and "obscene" content leading to services like Steam pull many games from their libraries despite being legal.
The "Online Safety Act" in the UK mandating all online services to force age verification on their users and remove content deemed "harmful" to children. You think it would stop there? Well, you are sorely mistaken.

The EU has introduced chat control, a bill which mandates that the contents of everyone's messages would be scanned for CSAM through a method called Client-side scanning where the message contents are seen on the device level before being encrypted and sent, fixing the issue of not breaking encryption, however this opens the doors to much greater censorship because it's basically having spyware on your device that reads and scans EVERYTHING YOU UPLOAD.
EU countries like France, Germany and Denmark are also considering age verification systems and are giving websites a grace period till about mid-2026 to implement them.

Think the US is safe? Well, there's KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act) and SCREEN (Shielding Children’s Retinas from Egregious Exposure on the Net Act) both of which are currently in Congress in discussion after a couple of failed attempts before, and certain States like Florida already force AV albeit in a quite bad way though.

Australia is probably the most fucked, their laws are so Draconian and controlling it's worse than the UK's because it's just a blanket ban and forcing AV on literally everything even down to fucking Search Engines like Google coming into effect at the end of this year. They're also doing what chat control and the OSA have done but to a much worse scale by basically forcing tech companies to backdoor encryption for all it's users even getting to the point where Encrypted messaging apps are having to leave the country because of these laws.

The Internet as we know it is about to enter a much darker age of government control and surveillance where everything requires ID and Biometric data. Just to access any service forcing KYC on everyone, and being unable to comply or fail to would have huge fines or blocks entirely.

This forum and others like it may come under attack sooner or later by either lobbyists or governments where we may be forced to go underground on networks like Tor to survive.

TL;DR: It's literally 1984 or whatever piece of dystopian fiction you'll say.

nothing ever stays uncensored

These are truly dystopian times, they wanna take away the few copes we have and make us kill ourselves

i forgot to mention Canada but they also have similar shit going on in their Parliament as well but idk any of the specifics.

if any maplecels can fill in on them

I would rather stop using the internet altogether than bend the knee to these cucked laws. I will first try a VPN to bypass it then an AI generated ID. If that doesn't work I will just give up and not use the service :feelsjuice:

I am very curious as to who is pushing these laws through. Is it right wing politicians or left wingers? :waitwhat:

It's both, whoever is authoritarian enough they can push their own agendas to achieve the same goal of control.

These laws tend to have bipartisan support because they use the arguments of safety to tug on people's fear, like children or against terrorists.

So no one would be against the principles of them, it's only the methodology that they use in enacting them is the issue.

Wow. The internet was born, flourished, grew sick, and then died all in my life time.

there's always the DEPTHs below but many hesitate to explore it.

The tor tale has got a bit of shit on it these days

This is the final nail in the coffin of the free internet. It had a good run i guess :feelsbadman:

Can't wait for every mainstream social media to require Id, and the ones that don't be flooded by hobbyists testing their gpt bots

Collective Shout is just a censorship group.

Which is why we should start archiving the internet as much as possible.

internet archive comes under attack
it’s better to download and save everything now. Things are about to get even more worse now the copes are getting clean out from the nets.

This is genuinely evil tbh, first they show us all of this crap and make us addicted to it. We have no choice cause the real world currently is trash. And now they tried to censor it all and even required your id for you to access this stuff.

Not only that, the new version of windows will be able to see, track and keep everything you see, every single fucking thing. You guys don’t know how catastrophic this act truly is, wait and see.

Hey you can't say that OP

JFL all of my anime coping might be monitored by secret third-party individuals or the government. And some people are so dumb they’re falling for the “kids’ safety” argument and aren’t really aware of how dystopian things will get.

Humanity has LOST via its own hand. Digital Dictatorship is the same as a giant boot being placed on the face of the people—forever.
