The reason I'm making this thread is because basic income is a good idea. What I'm saying is we shouldn't support people like UBI supporter Andrew Yang who supports abortion and opposes the Hyde Amendment, which even (former) Democrat Joe Manchin supported.

1. Republican Alaska has basic income

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_basic_income

The Alaska Permanent Fund is a fund for all residents of the U.S. state of Alaska which averages $1,600 annually (in 2019 currency), and is sometimes described as the only example of a real basic income in practice.

2. Republican libertarian Milton Friedman supports a negative income tax. It's similar to basic income.

https://reason.com/2019/08/01/do-mi...ng-really-agree-on-the-universal-basic-income/

3. Libertarian Charles Murray proposed giving $13,000 each year to everyone I think.

4. Republican Curtis Sliwa is an "activist, radio talk show host and Republican nominee for the 2021 New York City mayoral election" who proposed universal basic income if he becomes mayor of New York. He's currently running.

5. In California, Republicans supported guaranteed income(a similar idea).

To California Democratic state Sen. David Cortese, the idea of gaining Republican support for a bill to provide cash to certain residents would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.

But his proposed legislation to offer $1,000 per month to homeless youth has so far received bipartisan support in the state Senate

5. Mark Zuckerberg helped fundraise for Republican Chris Christie. He's not perfect since he fundraised for Cory Booker. What about the most important issue, abortion, though? It seems his Facebook and Instagram hid abortion posts. While that's not a proclamation of being pro-life, it's not bad. He supports basic income.

6.Jack Dorsey is co-founder of Twitter and he donated "$3 million to help fund a group of guaranteed income pilot programs that will put cash directly in the hands of Americans who need it the most in more than a dozen cities across the United States." He endorsed "Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in his campaign to become the Democratic party nominee in the 2024 United States presidential election." RFK Jr later endorsed Donald Trump. In 2020, Dorsey "contributed financially to the campaigns of 2020 Democratic presidential [candidate] Tulsi Gabbard..." Gabbard later became a Republican. Dorsey isn't perfect though. It seems he supports abortion. His platform also banned Trump despite previously allowing him to post. It wasn't until Elon Musk purchased the platform that Trump could post there again. He's not perfect. In 2019, he signed a letter saying abortion bans are bad for business. That's bad.

7. Venture capitalist Tim "Draper stated that he met with—and donated to—both presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in 'roughly equal amounts.' He also stated that he is "endorsing both candidates.'" He proposed giving everyone $15,000. I'm not sure if he means basic income or just a one-time payment though but one website says he says basic income can be given in the form of bitcoin. I don't think this source is accurate. I couldn't find information on him and abortion.

8. Elon "Musk said that he believes the solution to taking care of human workers who are displaced by robots and software is creating a (presumably government-backed) universal basic income for all." Musk supported Trump.

9. Pope Francis proposed a "universal basic wage." I don't know if that's the same as UBI though but people seem to think so.

10. It seems MLK Jr supported guaranteed income. He was a pastor. Even his I Have a Dream speech quoted The Bible. His niece Alveda King is Republican.

Civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. endorsed it under the name of "the guaranteed income" in his 1967 book Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? shortly before his assassination.

We should tax the corporations who hire immigrants to fund this, it's justified
