Trivers–Willard hypothesis posits in mammals, good times will led to more male births and terrible times will led to more female births.
This is simply due to the fact that most men are re-productively not as successful as women. I would want to clarify that evidence is an mixed bag on this hypothesis so far, but its pointing to the that direction. Compared to r/K selection theory, in which there is an cost between quality and quantity of an species, with larger and more advanced species favoring quality over quantity. Also male embryos are more fragile than foid embyros. But men need less resources and are more verstatile and better equipped to handle harsh conditions. An society does not prosper in hard times. An society only prospers in good times/luxurious times. Don't even get me started on selectively miscarried, in which male embroys are selectively miscarried by foids, unconsciously and or not in biologically hard times.
Its over.
You are an risky reproductive strategy and it didn't work. Despite men needing less resources, nature favors female embryos due to the fact that they are more likely to survive birth
