Globalization is the other big factor. Centuries ago, societies were more isolated and there were many traditional cultures around the world that put a brake on female hypergamy, establishing greater sexual equality among men. Yes globalization played a role with America taking the step forward although it's important to note that femoids expressing their desire to strike at what they perceive to be an oppressive patriarchy rather than established rules of modesty and respect began far before the US, significantly in Western Europe during the 18th century. The introduction of the contraceptive pill has had deleterious effects on social interactions between people.
What it has done is essentially ended monogamy in the West, plus Japan, Russia, Israel, South Korea, Central and South America, and the eastern coast of China.

Since humans are fundamentally unequal, and women tend to "date up", the end of monogamy does not mean that life is one big orgy where everyone's getting laid all the time. Instead, the top 20% or so of men are getting laid a lot by a lot of different women, the intermediate 70% are getting laid sometimes by a smaller number of women (and often still engaging in long-term relationships when they can find a woman who's up for that) but are having to try harder than they used to when monogamy was still socially enforced due to the risk of pregnancy. The bottom 10% are the incels who, since all women can have sex with better men, are of no interest to women anymore.

What this does for a society is that it makes it more hostile and competitive. Hostile, because all unmarried men have historically been rivals of one another for the attention of women, and this creates natural tensions (which you can see on full display during an average night out). And competitive, because women's attention is increasingly reserved for the most successful men, and so being ruthless in business and life is rewarded (you want to be Mr Grey, not Mr Grey's gardener). So in that sense, I think the 1980s-2010s, with their corporate dominance in life and politics and culture of excessive materialism, have been the natural consequence of the invention of the contraceptive pill.
