I think the purpose of life is embedded in our genes. Biologycally speaking we are just made of flesh and bones that are ruled by DNA that knows it has limited time on this planet so it just wants to multiply.

In absence of a higher goal the organism wants to continue it's existence through breeding so new copies of himself will emerge.Breeding is the current known form of immortality and in the absence of you being a god like entity or demiurg breeding is the only way to break the spell of death.

Until further technologycal advancements where you can become a cyborg with your mind implanted in a hard drive or USB stick breeding is the only hope we got as a species to continue our existence.

In the long scheme of things,if you aren't a science man that will discover something important or if you don't breed,your existance doesn't matter and will be forgotten.You actually die three times ,when you physically die ,when your name is no longer known and when all your direct ancestors perish.
