I've noticed an insurgence of people with such behaviors and it has even become tiresome to come here, sometimes to the point I just stay away from this forum for a while and just LDAR. Really it's a shame but I agree that many users here believe everyone who has 3000+ posts (bonus points if joined in 2026) to be a god among men yet will doubt and make fun of truecels just because one of these trolls decided to do it first. Even ones with a clear agenda like feminizing men (mostly with façade of being feminine/delicate themselves or having fetishes such as femdom and "dommy mommy") are getting a pass and being able to create discord and confusion and for these types I pity the anime subforum because that's where they tend to stay most of the time.
There's this fallacy where someone will observe someone behaving in an extremely irrational manner, and attribute their behavior to some hidden logical motivator. You wouldn't waste this much time and effort doing something like this unless someone was paying you, so you assume everyone must be this pragmatic.
It's understandable. There are some cases where something like this is going on. And the vast majority of people will behave logically, at least the majority of the time. But there are turboautists and schizos with no job, no life, and an internet connection...and trolls like this are the result.
I've been posting on the internet longer than the average member of this forum has been alive, and I've encountered some VERY bizarre trolls over the years. Back when I used 4chan there were posters who'd spam the same thread over and over and then samefag and have whole ass conversations with themselves within that thread. Back on forums I used to use there were several instances where someone spent years of their life using multiple accounts, pretending to be a different person on each. They not only took the time to craft a unique backstory and personality for each "character" but they even used a unique writing style for each account. They only got found out because either they slipped up and posted on the wrong account, they admitted it to someone who later outed them, or a mod finally checked the IP address. I have no doubt there are people here who'd do this if there weren't so many safeguards making this far more difficult.
But we've still had our share of extremely neurotically dedicated trolls. Take the BBC spammer for example. He made literal hundreds of accounts to spam posts about BBC theory. Serge (the old head admin) actually had to ban multiple entire ip ranges to keep him off the forum. This is also why we don't allow VPN signups. Some people complain about us not allowing VPN signups, or complain that moderation is too strict...but if we weren't so strict there would be turboautists who would gleefully spend 14 hours a day, everyday, flooding the forum year after year. The forum would be unusable.
Ultimately some people just have a unique blend of mental illnesses that motivate them to spend an extraordinary amount of time and effort into trolling/spamming in a way that seems to yield no real payoff to anyone with a remotely normal functioning brain. Some have an insatiable appetite for attention. Some have a strident agenda and seem to be under the delusion that if they spam enough, it will have some sort of real world impact. And I'm sure some have motivations that are incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't have their unique blend of mental illnesses.
I'll admit I used to troll on the internet back when I was a teenager. But I never put in even 0.1% of the time and effort that some of these trolls do. Also I left trolling behind with my teenage years, yet you have grown ass men spending all day doing this shit.

Every car-oriented forum has at least that one guy who isn't happy unless he's mentioned that his V8 could beat [whatever we are trying to talk about] in a race, in absolutely any thread where the topic isn't [his V8.] Because he lives to satiate an unmet need he has, for everyone to paid the appropriate homage to him and his stock V8 that he put an aftermarket air filter on for gains that have never been verified, but are "huge", just ask him.
He is usually enabled by a couple of supportive bum boys who have the same car and they find his tone-deaf masturbation edifying.
And WOE betide anybody who tells him that's nice, but we're trying to have a conversation about [something else] here, because that just triggers a massive toddler-EQ meltdown and thread derailment where, he expects to get his dick sucked by the everyone, or else he'll just keep ranting and swearing and making weird death threats until a grown-up bans him for 24 hours.
