No matter my mistakes or failings I can always grasp the "inner strength of my being" i.e. there is a link between my existential (failing) and my essential (perfect) self. This "essential self" is the seat of absolute (but this "absolute" doesn't mean "libertine") freedom and my true self. It is "I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE" of Exodus 3:14. It is also pre-rational, and indeed the only basis for rationality. Its significance for the body is the notion of pure superfluity i.e. contigency = inertness = nobility.
