Was the Virgil character in Arcanum: Of Steamworks And Magick Obscura. This guy who meets you at the crashing site and is very excited to see you as a reincarnation of his favored deity or something along the lines. I've never completed the game actually. The concept is great, but to me it's too sloppy and rough around the corners, half the game systems don't function properly, the battle system is sloppy and frustrating as well, and there is a lot of grinding in some dungeons. But somehow I remembered his conversations through the years, probably can even recite some of them from memory. Take a listen (suifuel for did not listenedcels)

My faovorite excerpts are at the beginning, then at 28:59 and then 41:39. But probably you should play the game itself for context.

And also his coversations with a low INT character are hillarious

I don't know why exactly I like it so much, his manner of speech so vivid and nuanced in terms of emotion and little quirks. His sighs, little ramblings, the times when he spills the beans about his past, all of this is so full of character. The actor did a phenomenal job, with his acting made me care about this particular video game character probably the only time in my life.

For those arcanumcels who have played the game, do you like the character of Virgil? How would you describe him? What makes the voice acting work, in your opinion?

The game had some potential that wasn't fully realized. But at the end of the day it's too rough around the corners and is seriously flawed. The battle system is a shitshow, half of the spells are useless. Some characters are great, others are simply cardboards. Given time it could be just another masterpiece from the golden era, but wasn't meant to happen. Still some of its elements although lie on the surface haven't been revisited in any other RPG game of the same scale and setting.

FNV mogs in some aspects, but classic fallouts are unique in their own right, although too suffer from various shortcomings

which ones ? Do you think that FNV is best ''modern'' rpg ? aka last 15 years

idk last time i played FNV was like 10 years ago, and I haven't played some of the most well-regarded modern RPGs like witcher 3, kingdom come and some others, so my rating would be skewed. FNV is a 3d open world game which mogs F1-2 in general. The 2d design of original fallouts is ingenious but sometimes can get too monotonous. FNV has more fleshed out RPG mechanics, F1-2 are very uneven in terms of different builds and playstyles. FNV has better companions whereas F1-2 has mostly forgettable npcs as companions, and various other stuff which I can't remember.
