Have you guys heard of this movie? I asked ChatGPT to summarize the plot for those of you that have not heard of it.

“Obsession (2026) is about Bear Bailey, a lonely man who uses a magical wish to make his crush, Nikki, fall in love with him. But instead of genuine affection, Nikki develops an increasingly dangerous and violent obsession with him. Bear soon realizes that forcing someone to love you has horrifying consequences.”

The guy basically turns the girl into a yandere. Japan has been making shows with yanderes for decades

However, In Japan when a character is obsessed it is part of their personality by default or caused by trauma. In this American interpretation the woman is made to be that way by the guy, and thus, anything that happens to him is ultimately his fault.

I think it’s interesting how in America the awful things a yandere does is the man’s fault, but in Japan it is the fault of the woman. What do you guys think about this?

Didn't watch it, won't watch it.

Cool I wasnt going to watch it anyways and never will

Interesting plot. I will add it to my watch later maybe list

I watched it with my dad when it came out. I found it comedic.

I won't watch it, it's like that netflix show about some 13 year old who killed or something and supposed to reflect "manosphere" or whatever bullshit.

Japanese media gives female characters more agency

In the West foids are seen as children men need to coddle, hence their male caretaker is responsible for their actions

I would watch it but i have no one to go with so fuck that movie
