You seek validation from people that you need.

You don't care what someone thinks of you if their opinion has no effect on you.

example; a rich person doesn't care what a random hobo thinks of them, because they do not need the hobo.

The necessity to reproduce is biological, innate. So you will always seek validation from females when that need is not met, because you need females to fulfill that need; to reproduce.
