Almost a quarter (24%) of people there reported feeling lonely, and adolescents aged 13 to 17 are the worst affected, the WHO says. The next highest rates of loneliness are in the eastern Mediterranean (21%), followed by south-east Asia (18%). Europe has the lowest rate, at about 10%.

Makes me wonder how the people who constantly underrate loneliness as a problem will react when they'll realize that it's mostly the group(s) the supposed knowledge of whose problems they use to virtue signal that suffers from it the most.

They still had hope when they had sky-high fertility rates and free trade was the rule of the world. Even though they weren't progressing, they could believe that there's a lot of time for them to do so and that there's opportunities for that. Now, their fertility is falling down, they are modernizing but so far not catching up economically, and with trade barriers only coming back and going up, it's going to be harder and harder for poor countries to catch up, and most of all for the poorest of them.
