Remember that incel forums historically have not accumulated as many members compared to other more socially accepted forums. This forum has existed for over 7 years. But only about 29,000 accounts have ever been created on it, and I would bet at least half of those accounts were infiltrators or / and normies. Looksmax has more than twice as many registered accounts. Incels were not as famous before 2022, and incel forums relatively speaking don't have many registered accounts
I am personally not a fan of Elliot Rodger or Alek Minassian, but ER and AM provided women and bluepilled normies with a reason to decorate their Incel Scarecrow as the boogeyman. Their acts of retribution were sensationalized by mainstream media. But ER and AM did not cause the "incel" to become famous internationally. ER and AM only created a foundation for women and normies to feel frightened and troubled by the existence of the incel scarecrow they were building and decorating over time. But grifters like Andrew Tate also played a larger part in causing incels to achieve international notoriety. He became more famous than ER or AM by miles, and Tate is well known for his beliefs which were painted as "incel propaganda" by mainstream media

Nearly all femicides and sexual assaults on women are not committed by self-identified incels. But normies and women don’t care as much when other women are raped or murdered by Chads, because their actions are not seen as “motivated by incel ideology”. Normies and women only worry if they believe there’s an ideology behind it, because they know that ideologies have the potential to inspire others to reshape their behavior in support for the ideology, and it can sow the seeds for future social revolution - Even if those ideologies were initially advertised or sensationalized through acts of violence.
