Dissatisfaction with your life, with many things, you strive for something & once you have it the want in question gradually drops off in importance & now you need something else, endlessly chasing something in the vain hope you won't feel empty anymore, customer was changed to consumer.

Customer makes me think of an intelligent person, well informed that knows what they want.

Consumer is a fat blundering idiot that stumbles around being led by a carrot on a stick. Never satisfied.

We're climbing a ladder with no end & only darkness at the top of the vanishing point. Maybe there's something at the top?

Normies get a section to get off every now & then to do something else.

Chads are on an escalator with cool shit at every floor.

Women are the stores, gravitated towards.

I would be content with 10 billion dollars and a 10/10 gf tbh

Hedonic adaptation 101.

Hence why I've previously claimed that there is no such thing as positive utility.

If all we ever do is satisfy needs, and strive towards doing so, then any resulting pleasure can't be called truly independent or inspired. Furthermore, there is no hedonic net gain, it's an impossibility, there is no way to win, for lack of a better word. As you mentioned, the moment a goal is reached we immediately go off and pursue the satisfaction of another need. The promised horizon disappears and all that we're left with is a sort of hollow, empty feeling towards this illusory pleasure.

To phrase it another way, we're created with a primary function of measuring and mitigating negative utility, that is to say suffering, needs, unpleasant sensations, etc.

Think of it like this, I'm sure we'd all agree that a house is a good thing. It keeps us warm, safe, and comfortable. However does a house continue being good if there are no humans around to shelter and benefit from it? No, with the reason being the fact that there is nobody around who requires their problems and discomforts to be resolved by the house, therefore it is no longer good when divorced from the need. Much the same as food isn't good when you're not hungry, or there is nobody who requires it. Or entertainment isn't good when there is nobody around who needs distraction or occupation. You can extrapolate this reasoning to basically anything.

The implications of this are the important part. If pleasure is our perception of a reduction in negative value, and human existence(and that of all biological life) can be summed up by the detection and elimination of discomforts, then wouldn't it have been better to avoid having experienced any of this in the first place? There is no true benefit or purpose to any of it, no way to ever come out ahead, no way to justify your own existence, nor the lives of anyone else.

it actually does make sense froma survival/evolutionary standpoint, if youre never truly happy you always try to make your environment better, safer, more enjoyable, this helps yourself and also all others in your tribe, i honestly believe unhappines and not being content with the status quo was a major driver in human ingeniuity (of course only male) and prosperity in the hunter gatherer days.

imagine if youre happy with just the minimun, youre not going to horde food for the long winter and die, so those paranoid unhappy fuckers who were scared and horded all they could find, they survived while the happy and content idiot dies happy.

its only a problem in the modern world because we are stuck wagecucking and cant really make our situations better beside cleaning our apartment or wokring out or some shit, but we cant interact and make the community we live in more enjoyable and safer because these sorts of social relations have changed completely in favor of anonymus individuality in cities, isolation and alienation,

also one thing that we humans do if we are unhappy is buy useless shit, so ties in nicely with capitalism

They didn't change if from the right to happiness (original version) to the right to the pursuit of happiness for no good reason.
