I remember reading an article years ago about the suffragettes conspiring with rich beta politicians to send as many men to their deaths during WW1 by convincing men that it was the "manly" thing to do, to sign up. Wish I could find it.

Damn brutal. I think one of the main reason why politicians push for war is lowkey population control.
