Granted maybe some of the 'volunteers' coming to help Ukraine are actually mercenaries that the Western Empire is paying for, but got a very good cover story for.

The Ukrainian army in the Eastern part by the breakaway republics, they are going to get surrounded. And Kiev is in danger of this encirclement. Meantime Kharkiv and Mariupol are in big trouble.

Odessa and area look relatively safe as the West can resupply that area through Romania.

The West is going to have to move serious amounts of arms, supplies, money & mercenaries in. The money is easy, they will soon just transfer $billions to the Ukraine government. Who then can pay soldiers in $USD & Euros. The arms and supplies will be easy to get to Western Ukraine, but hard to get to the Ukrainian army in parts of Eastern Ukraine.

The Empire needs tens of thousands of shock troopers and mercenaries to get in there, and say they are paid for by the Ukraine government. Or 'volunteers'.

This might be the only war worth fighting in, if the price is right. It's cucked dying for a flag and for men in suits when you're getting paid peanuts. At least it's not as bad when you're fighting only for a paycheck and the money can set you up for early retirement, if you're lucky, skilled, and equipped enough to survive the campaign, which is looking like it could last at least a year.

In many ways its ethically better even for the capitalists. Already the USA is near a professional military, its not conscripts like many in Europe. And where its not even pretending to be about patriotism. But its high pay, the best benefits, early retirement as well.

There is also career advancement as a mercenary, eg.. if you get experience commanding people, how to organize locals in fights.
